Beta 2.0

About Us

In the summer of 2009 we were looking for a park to take out soon-to-be two-year old to play, and thought "gee, wouldn't it be nice if our city's website supported user-reviews for their parks?" About a month later, having asked the same question several more times, we decided to do something about this gap in services. Don't get us wrong, we love our city. But this just seemed too obvious a need.

Four weeks later, we launched a beta of MyLocalPark.com. We're not done adding features -- not by a long shot. But, we wanted to get what we had out there, so others could start using the resource we're building.

At the launch of the beta, we have only one city's parks cataloged -- Redmond, Wa. Our plan is to add two more local cities by the end of the month, and be developing relationships with the parks departments of several other jurisdictions.

We're also not restricting ourselves to local and state parks. We'll catalog any gathering place that's open to the public, and offers park-like amenities. We feel strongly that this service is valuable to anyone whether they're a parent, pet-owner, educator, sports-aficionado, or individual citizen; and we'll be working hard to increase that value.

If you have a feature you'd like to see, or a park you want to make sure gets listed, we'd love to hear from you.
